Advantages
Why Choose Welding Automation?
Less Crane Handling
Turning rolls, positioners, and beam rotators move the workpiece under the welder, so the overhead crane stays free for heavier moves. Cycle times improve and material handling risk drops.
Cleaner Welds, Faster Cycles
Down-hand welding through controlled rotation produces straighter beads and tighter cycle times than manual repositioning. Speed and angle are repeatable across long runs.
Safer Heavy Lifts
Beam rotators and welding positioners take operators out of the load path during workpiece reorientation. Heavy members move under powered control instead of by hand or crane.
Works With Your Welding Power
Each system is mechanical positioning equipment that pairs with your existing welder (MIG, TIG, SAW, FCAW). ACM configures the integration, including welding-earthing on positioners.

Conventional welding positioner with motor-driven rotation
SRP
ACM supplies the Akyapak SRP conventional welding positioner for fabricators welding workpieces of varying sizes who need precise rotation control without the cost or complexity of hydraulic tilt actuation. Where the SRH adds hydraulic tilt to the same positioning concept, the SRP focuses on rotation and T-slot clamping, ideal for fabrication tasks where the workpiece angle is set during fixturing rather than adjusted dynamically during the weld pass. The SRP family covers an unusually wide load range, from light-duty work at 150 kg up to heavy-duty fabrication at 40,000 kg (about 330 lb up to 88,200 lb, or 0.15 to 40 metric tons), with table diameters from 500 mm to 3,500 mm (about 20 to 138 inches). Operators can regulate rotation speed automatically or manually throughout the welding process, and a digital display on the control panel monitors rotation in real time so any deviation can be caught immediately. Workpieces clamp directly to the table via standard T-slot channels, holding the part securely during the full weld cycle. The SRP is ergonomically designed to reduce manual labour and improve operator safety, replacing the crane and forklift movements that slow down a non-automated cell. The SRP integrates with Akyapak column-boom welding systems and welding robots for fully co-ordinated welding cells where the positioner handles workpiece rotation and the column-boom or robot handles torch travel. Operators control rotation via a 5 m (16 ft) corded remote control. Typical applications include pressure vessel and tank welding, cylindrical assembly welding, and any fabrication where consistent rotation under the welder reduces dependence on cranes and forklifts. ACM helps you size the SRP to your typical workpiece weight and table requirement and supports installation, training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

Compact H-beam welding machine with integrated straightening
HBW
ACM supplies the Akyapak HBW H-beam welding machine for fabricators producing custom-sized structural H-beams in volume. The HBW is the most compact and space-saving H-beam welder on the market, making it a strong fit for shops that want full automation without dedicating a long line. Plate parts are centred in the inlet conveyor groups, then welded together to produce H-beams across a wide range of flange widths, web heights, and material thicknesses. The HBW includes integrated beam straightening, and can be configured with single or double (tandem) welding torches when throughput demands it. A robust structural hull and meticulously developed columns deliver durability under sustained production loads, while a sprocket-driven feeding system, encoder-controlled by a PLC, gives precise speed adjustment for repeatable results. Motor-driven guide rollers centre both the web and the bottom flange with hydraulic alignment for high-precision welds. ACM helps configure the HBW to your typical beam sizes and backs the install with full commissioning, operator training, and ongoing service from our Cambridge, Ontario base.

H-beam flange straightening line
BPS
ACM supplies the Akyapak BPS H-beam straightening line for fabricators correcting flange distortion that occurs after welding heavy structural beams. Internal stresses from the welding process bend H-beam flanges out of plane, and the BPS uses two upper hydraulic rollers paired with a lower wheel supported by a horizontal reducer to apply up to 441 US tons (400 tonnes) of straightening force, bringing welded beams back to their target geometry. The straightening bodies move horizontally to accommodate different beam widths, and adjustable trimming rollers handle a wide variety of beam sizes. Two 40 ft (12 m) infeed and outfeed conveyors drive long beams through the machine continuously, eliminating the manual handling that slows down a non-automated cell. Side supports use two pairs of double-sided guide wheels at entry and exit; one stop in each pair is hydraulically actuated and the other is adjusted with a handwheel, keeping the workpiece centred during the straightening pass. Quality alloy steel rollers deliver the durability and wear resistance needed to apply repeated heavy force without frequent replacement. The BPS runs as a standalone straightening cell or integrates downstream of the HBW H-beam welding line for a complete welded-and-straightened H-beam fabrication line. ACM helps you size the BPS to your typical beam dimensions and supports installation, commissioning, and operator training from Cambridge, Ontario.

Column-and-boom welding manipulator (MCB / HCB / E-HCB models)
Column-Boom
ACM supplies the Akyapak column-and-boom welding system for fabricators welding tanks, vessels, pipe spools, and large steel constructions where the workpiece cannot be moved through a fixed welding station. The column carries a vertical boom whose welding head positions the torch precisely for peripheral, longitudinal, internal-longitudinal, internal-peripheral, and cover welds, including welds in confined inner diameters where access is tight. The 360-degree rotating column moves under manual or automatic control across the full plane, and the boom is freely adjustable in both horizontal and vertical directions for fine torch placement. A mechanical brake locks the boom in position to prevent accidental descent during welding. The lineup spans three models. MCB is the base configuration; HCB adds a moveable or fixed operator seat for ergonomic welding; E-HCB extends reach for larger workpieces. Across the family, load capacity runs from 200 to 600 kg (440 to 1,323 lb) and boom distance runs from 4,385 mm to 10,070 mm (about 14 to 33 feet), so the same product family covers small, medium, and heavy-duty welding cells. HCB and E-HCB models also include an operator ladder for safe high-position access. The column-boom integrates with Akyapak SRH hydraulic welding positioners and turning rolls for fully co-ordinated translation through circumferential and longitudinal welds, or runs independently for straight passes. Both stationary and rail-mounted mobile configurations are available. ACM helps configure model size, mounting, and integration with your existing welding power source from Cambridge, Ontario.

Conventional 4-wheel turning rotator
CR
ACM supplies the Akyapak CR conventional rotator for fabricators welding cylindrical workpieces with little variation in diameter, including tanks, pressure vessels, pipes, and similar circular components. The CR is the practical, cost-effective choice in Akyapak's turning roll lineup: it rotates the workpiece at a controlled, adjustable speed under the welding arc, eliminating the crane operations and manual rotation that slow down a non-automated cell. Four impact and vibration-resistant polyurethane wheels handle the workpiece, with each wheel moving separately for smooth rotation across the diameter range. The standard CR handles workpiece diameters from 2,750 to 8,000 mm (about 9 to 26 ft) and load capacities from 1 to 300 tons; special configurations extend capacity to 600 tons. Operators control rotation in either direction at varying speeds via a remote control connected by a 5 m cable, with a digital display showing the current speed setting. The CR runs as a standalone turning station for production welding on consistent diameters, or integrates with Akyapak column-boom welding systems for fully co-ordinated circumferential welds. ACM helps you size the CR to your typical workpiece weight and diameter and supports installation, training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

Two-unit fit-up rotator (stationary + rail-mounted movable)
FIT-UP
ACM supplies the Akyapak FIT-UP converter for fabricators joining two cylindrical sections into one welded assembly, including wind tower segments, pressure vessel sections, ship hull cylinders, tank fabrication, and similar circular structures. Where a conventional rotator handles a single workpiece, the FIT-UP system aligns and joins two: it consists of one stationary unit and one movable unit that travels along customisable rails, letting operators position the second cylinder to meet the first concentrically before the weld pass. The centre axis serves as the joining axis and can be customised and moved to accommodate various part sizes. The movable unit's position is adjusted up and down with hydraulic cylinders and right and left along the rail using a trolley walking drive. Standard load capacity ranges from 5 to 100 tons, with custom configurations available up to 300 tons, and the FIT-UP handles cylinders from 3,000 to 6,000 mm in rotation diameter (about 10 to 20 ft). Each cell is configured during the design phase to match specific requirements, including rail length and the number of rotating units. Operators control rotation speed via a digital display and a 5 m corded remote control, the same controller standard across the Akyapak turning roll family. The FIT-UP is purpose-built for peripheral welding processes, particularly the joining of two cylinders end-to-end. ACM helps you specify the FIT-UP system to your typical workpiece sizes and supports installation, operator training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

Self-aligning turning rotator with auto-adjusting wheels
SAR
ACM supplies the Akyapak SAR self-aligning rotator for fabricators welding cylindrical workpieces where diameters vary or two joining components have different production-tolerance diameters. Where the conventional CR rotator works best on workpieces of consistent diameter, the SAR's wheels automatically adjust as the workpiece changes, eliminating manual setup between parts. A material alignment mechanism automatically matches two components with different production-tolerance diameters for a seamless fit during the weld pass. The SAR also adapts to uneven floors, making it a strong fit for construction sites and shop floors where flatness is not guaranteed. Standard load capacity ranges from 3 to 300 tons, and the SAR handles workpieces from a minimum 235 mm to a maximum 7,000 mm turning diameter (roughly 9 inches to 23 feet). Four polyurethane wheels rotate the workpiece, with each wheel moving independently for smooth rotation. Operators control rotation speed via a digital display and a 5 m corded remote control, the same controller standard across the Akyapak turning roll family. The SAR runs as a standalone turning station or integrates with Akyapak column-boom welding systems for fully co-ordinated circumferential welds. Typical applications include pressure vessels, tower pipes, boilers, tanks, reactors, and fuel tanks. ACM helps you size the SAR to your workpiece envelope and supports installation, training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

Rope-driven beam rotator with dual driver units
HR
ACM supplies the Akyapak HR rope beam rotator for fabricators welding heavy beams and large cylindrical workpieces who need precise, fast rotation without chain marks on sensitive surfaces. The HR uses an endless steel rope coated with polyurethane to rotate the workpiece, protecting the surface from the marks that chains would leave on materials like polished metal, painted surfaces, or composite parts. Two driver units handle the rotation; they can operate synchronously for rigid workpieces or independently when the welding angle needs separate adjustment on each end. Operators can rotate the workpiece in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, and an elevator system raises and lowers it for ergonomic welding height. The rope system is reliably designed to prevent rope breakage, and the rope path is protected by the elevator structure. The HR handles workpieces from 450 to 1,200 mm in rotation diameter and load capacities from 2,500 to 10,000 kg (about 5,500 to 22,000 lb). A dual-body structure lets the two units move simultaneously or separately, with rotation co-ordinated across both bodies, giving operators flexibility on awkwardly shaped parts. CE safety compliant and built for heavy-duty industrial use, the HR is controlled via a 5 m corded remote control. Typical applications include H-beam welding, NPU beam welding, and any planar-section workpieces where surface integrity matters. ACM helps you size the HR to your typical beam weight and diameter and supports installation, training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

Chain-driven beam rotator with dual driver units
ZR
ACM supplies the Akyapak ZR chain beam rotator for fabricators welding heavy beams and flat cross-section parts where the chain drive's grip and load capacity matter more than surface protection. Where the rope-driven HR is the right choice for sensitive surfaces (painted, polished, composite), the ZR uses an endless chain mechanism designed to grip and position heavy workpieces precisely for optimum weld edge preparation. Two driver units handle the rotation; they can operate synchronously for rigid workpieces or independently when the welding angle needs separate adjustment on each end. The ZR rotates workpieces in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, and is height-adjustable so the welder can match the operator's working height. Standard load capacity ranges from 6,000 to 12,000 kg (about 6.6 to 13 US tons, or 6 to 12 metric tons), with rotation diameters from 600 to 2,000 mm (about 24 to 79 inches, or 2 to 6.5 ft). The height-adjustable design adapts to parts of different sizes, making it a strong fit for fabrication shops welding mixed structural sections. CE safety compliant and built for heavy-duty industrial use, the ZR is controlled via a 10 m (32 ft) corded remote control, longer than the 5 m standard on Akyapak's smaller rotators, giving the operator more freedom on larger workpieces. Typical applications include H-beam welding, NPU beam welding, and flat structural sections in steel construction. ACM helps you size the ZR to your typical workpiece weight and diameter and supports installation, training, and ongoing service from Cambridge, Ontario.

FAQ
Welding Automation Questions
Answers to common questions about our welding automation products.
ACM supplies the full Akyapak welding automation lineup: H-beam welding lines, post-weld straightening lines, column-and-boom welding manipulators, turning rolls, beam rotators, and hydraulic welding positioners. Each system is sized to your workpiece envelope and welding throughput, and supported from Cambridge, Ontario.
A welding positioner rotates and tilts compact workpieces under the welder for vessels and small assemblies. Turning rolls rotate cylindrical workpieces (tanks, pipe spools) along their length without crane handling. A beam rotator grips long structural beams (H-beams, NPU beams) and turns them to the optimal welding angle. Many shops run more than one to cover the range of jobs that come through.
Yes. The Akyapak systems are mechanical positioning and handling equipment, designed to work alongside any standard welding power source (MIG, TIG, SAW, FCAW). ACM helps configure the integration with your existing welder, including the welding-earthing mechanism on the positioners.
Yes. ACM handles full installation, commissioning, operator training, and ongoing service for all Akyapak welding automation equipment from our Cambridge, Ontario base. We serve fabricators across Ontario and Eastern Canada.
The SRH range spans seven models from the SRH-500 (1,100 lb capacity) to the SRH-35000 (77,000 lb). Smaller models tilt to 115 degrees; the heavier models tilt to 90 degrees. ACM helps select the right model based on workpiece weight and centre of gravity.
Yes. The HBW line uses hydraulic-cylinder fixturing that adapts to different flange widths, web heights, and material thicknesses without changing the welding line itself. That is the core advantage when producing custom-dimension structural beams that fall outside standard catalogue sizes.
