BMB — detail view
hydraulic flanging machine

The Akyapak BMB flanging machine turns flat or pre-dished blanks into finished flanged heads with controlled edge profiles — a critical operation in pressure vessel, tank, and process equipment manufacturing. The electro-welded, stress-relieved frame and proportional hydraulic controls deliver precise, low-vibration flanging across a working diameter range of 20 inches to 33 feet, handling material from 14 gauge to 2 inches cold and up to 4 inches when hot-formed. Both upper and lower head holders are independently driven by hydraulic motors and cylinders, while a radial-piston hydraulic motor powers the knuckle roll for high-speed rotation and consistent torque throughout the flanging pass. The flanging roll itself is driven by three hydraulic cylinders for both vertical and horizontal movement, sliding between the two main bodies for precise edge control. Designed for simplicity, the BMB can be operated effectively by personnel without extensive metal forming experience. ACM provides BMB flanging machines from Cambridge, Ontario with die packages, process guidance, and dedicated service support.

Ideal For

  • Tank and vessel fabricators who flange dished heads in-house and need low-vibration precision across a wide diameter range
  • Shops working with both thin-gauge and heavy-plate material that require proportional hydraulic control for consistent edge quality
  • Manufacturers pairing a BMB flanging machine with a BMB-P dishing press for a complete in-house head forming line

Key Features

BMB Features

Standard features that set this machine apart in demanding manufacturing environments.

Precision & Performance

  • Both upper and lower head holders driven independently by hydraulic motors and cylinders for precise clamping and rotation control
  • Radial-piston hydraulic motor drives the knuckle roll for high-speed rotation with consistent torque throughout each flanging pass
  • Proportional hydraulic valves provide accurate pressure and speed control during flanging for consistent edge profiles

Ease of Operation

  • Built-in overload protection prevents damage from wrong settings — the hydraulic system stops automatically if parameters are exceeded
  • Centralised lubrication system via hand pump simplifies routine maintenance across all hydraulic and mechanical points
  • User-friendly controls allow operators without extensive forming experience to achieve accurate, repeatable flanging results

Cutting Capability

  • Flanging roll driven by three hydraulic cylinders for simultaneous vertical and horizontal movement between the main frame bodies
  • Lower supporting rolls powered by hydraulic cylinders support the head during flanging and adjust to different blank diameters

Built-In Extras

  • Electro-welded, stress-relieved high-alloy steel frame engineered for lowest vibration during flanging — extending component life and reducing surface roughness
  • Heat-treated special-steel dies produce clean flanges on steel, stainless steel, and mild steel blanks with or without centre holes

APK Heavy

hydraulic 3-roll profile bending machine

APK Heavy

The Akyapak APK Heavy Series delivers the bending force and roll geometry needed to form the heaviest structural profiles, pipe, and plate into precise curves, rings, and spirals. Six models span from the APK 280 at 37 HP to the flagship APK 1000 — one of the most powerful profile benders in production — with 214 HP, 34-inch diameter rolls, and a section modulus capacity exceeding 670 in³. Every machine in the range features a St-52 welded steel frame, three independently hydraulically driven rolls for slip-free material feeding, and infinitely variable speed control for consistent results across varying material grades and section sizes. Side supporters move in three directions to reduce deformation during bending, and hydraulically adjustable guide rolls keep the workpiece aligned through the forming zone. Available from ACM in Cambridge, Ontario with full installation, tooling consultation, and lifecycle service support.
